Disney is putting the Genie back into his bottle and has officially announced new changes coming to Lightning Lane booking in July 2024! Navigating your way through the new changes can be difficult, so here is everything we know about Disney’s new Lightning Lane Multi pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Starting on July 24th, 2024, Genie + services will be replaced by the Lightning Lane Multi pass. Individual Lightning Lane entry will also be replaced by the Lightning Lane Single Pass. The simpler names are here to help provide better understanding for everyone. These changes allow Disney visitors to book their lightning lanes prior to their park date and provide extra wiggle room to help book your favorites!
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow you to book up to three attractions and associated time slots prior to your park date. Selections can be made prior to completing your purchase of the Multi Pass. Having a peek into what you can expect for your trip can help make it easier to schedule around other reservations. Once you are in the park and redeem one of your lightning lanes, you can open up the My Disney Experience app and book another attraction, pending availability.
Attractions will be split into two groups – the first group includes more popular attractions, and the second group will contain the remaining qualifying rides. When it comes time for booking, you will be able to choose only one from the first group and the other two slots from the second group. If you choose, you also have the option to fill all three slots from just the second group.
The multi pass will still provide you with photopass perks! You can enjoy photos and videos from select attractions. You will also still be able to unlock different photopass lenses to make looking back at your memories even more magical!
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Single Pass applies to Disney’s most in demand attractions that cannot be booked through the Multi Pass option. You can purchase up to two single passes a day, pending availability. These can also be purchased in advance of your trip. The single passes can be applied to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle/Run, Avatar Flight of Passage, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
When You Can Purchase & Select
Itching to get started? How about 7 days sooner?! Disney visitors staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel can book their passes up to seven days prior to their resort stay. The booking will open at 7AM on the first day of their eligibility and they will be allowed to book lightning lanes for their entire stay, up to fourteen days. The resorts eligible for the seven day early planning are: Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, Swan and Dolphin Hotels, and Shades of Green Resort.
For all other guests, the window to purchase lightning lanes will open three days prior to your park visit. The booking will also open for you at 7AM on the first day of your eligibility. The three day advanced booking applies to guests not staying in Good Neighbor or other off property lodging, guests with date-based park tickets, and annual passholders.
It is important to note that in order to purchase any Lightning Lanes, you need to have valid park admission. If needed you may also need a valid park reservation, depending on your type of admission.

The day has come and you’re ready to get booking? In order to purchase passes you will need:

- Select the correct date and park you want to book for
- Select the Lightning Lanes you wish to purchase and a designated time slot.
- Multi and Single Lightning Lanes can all be selected before checking out.

Reviewing & Modifying Your Plans
Disney guests can still view their plans in the “My Day” section on the My Disney Experience app. Here you will see your booked attractions and reservations. If you need to modify or change your plans, you can do so here.
Under the “My Day” tab you can switch your date, park, and lightning lane selections according to availability prior to redeeming your first Lightning Lane selection for the day.
